Paula Patton
Paula Patton was born in Los Angeles,
California, to Joyce (Vanraden) and Charles Patton. Her father is
African-American and her mother who is caucasian is of German, English, and
Dutch heritage. Her family lived just next to the 20th Century Fox lot as she
grew up, and she was a major enthusiast of films from her early days. Her
mother, who liked good movies also taught at a school and her father was an
attorney. Paula said that she attempted to escape when she was an infant
through "pretending" to pretend to be someone else than. So it is no
surprise that she took part in Hamilton Magnet Arts High School performances.
Her most beloved role was one played by Abigail in "The Crucible".
After graduation from the University Southern California's summer school, she
pursued film studies and was given a 3-month project to make documentaries for
PBS. She was then hired as a production assistant for documentaries for
television and Howie Mandel's talk-show. She progressed to actually producing
documentaries for Medical Diaries (2000) airing on Discovery Health Channel.
Paula claims she loves what she is doing however her goal was the same. She
studied acting before deciding to switch gears and become an actor. She became
a star in a short time and was featured in Hitch (2006), Idlewild (2006) as
well as Deja Vu (2006) as the female leading lady.
